A very cliche scene: I was walking after dinner. There were 4 people, 3 boys and 1 girl, speaking English with various accents. It was not raining but lightening was striking behind the mountains in very bright and constant blows. The 3 boys were discussing which is the biggest army in the world. One was saying Indonesia, another China and a third was listening. The girl, from time to time, would say "look how beautiful the lightening is". The three boys never listened to her and never changed subject.

I can not beleive this really was happening in front of me. It really seems like a scene from a bad novel. Some people say life is bad litterature.

Alexander the great snippet. For 3 centuries after his (Alexander's) death, Persian emperors added the title "helleniphile" or even "alexandrian" to their royal titles. Even though Alexander had defeated their empire. Their admiration for him was immense. In Persian art, he is painted with dark hair and oriental clothes. Like he was actually Persian.

On the other hand. When he was alive, Alexander admired Persia so much he was jealouse of it. He often said how much he thought Persians, his enemies, were more sophisticated than greek people. He also was jealouse of their king Darius for being tall. Alexander himself was a shorty.

The most humanist period in history is not the renaissance. It is the hellenic age. I have this wonderful poem that speaks about it. I will find it and post it soon. Maybe tomorrow.

SAVEN - I am hearing (and watching) a recorded London concert of the 1970s band ELO - blimey, where did men get all that hair back then???
ATE - *wracks brain* Hm...I don't know anyone with a moustachio! [LOL, except for mon cher M. Poirot!]
NAN - I most liked my 9th grade English Literature teacher Miss Burroughs. She was a former nun who "was caught with a priest" she always said every so primly as she raised one eyebrow. She turned me on to historical tidbits like the Victorians dancing a certain distance apart and wearing gloves because *gasp* skin never touched skin!
The worst was my 12th grade Pre-Calculus teacher. She just DID not like me, and the odd thing is I had French class in there immediately afterwards, so my French teacher (oh she was also my fave - she was our neighbour too and our families got close) Trina always came in and chatted with me, and praisd me to high heaven with this teacher, who totally ignored everyting Trina said about me. I barely passed that class.
TONNE - oh you! I could ask what exactly cool means...Bart is cool, but I admire what the Queen does...so she's cool too. Darnit!

Steli - I had the headche all night and it wasn't so bad after i woke up but i fuinally took some tablets, then when i got to the interview, i was early and they were behind, so they told me to go and get a cup of coffee at the Starbucks down the road.
But I din't want Starbucks, so I went to the inevitable cafe two doors down and had a nice latte. Even better - the headache totally went away after that.
Dominic is a man's name here. The only Dominique I have ever met was une femme francaise.
LOL plus Bart can ride a skateboard.
When you say the Queen is beige it makes me think of the beige ladies who are a stereotype here.
About ELO, I think one of them had been in the Moody Blues. Oh yes, 70s British music is a great thing. Wait, I just looked at them and YES I know who Electric Light Orchestra are:
